Scientist vs. Poet's Notes
Some of us have begun sorting our observational notes into scientist and poets' categories. While both are great ways to observe objects, our goal is to focus on Poets' notes which take a Scientist's description a step further. We took some of our observational notes from the previous day and sorted them into categories. Some of our observational notes like "it was pink" fell into the scientist category. If we think of our object with poet's eyes a description like "it is pink like my skin, or pink like a pig" falls into the poets category. We have gained a firm understanding of the difference and have begun checking back on our work and peer editing to make sure we are writing like poets!
Austin and Matthew help decide which column their observations fall into...Scientist's or Poet's. Many of us got the chance to put observational notes in each category and explain why we think it belongs in each column. This was a good visual to help us begin doing the same with our own writing.
